Coconut shell activated carbon and nut shell activated carbon

Activated carbon is also divided into: coconut shell activated carbon, coal based activated carbon, nut shell activated carbon, wood powdered activated carbon and so on.
What is the difference between coconut shell activated carbon and nut shell activated carbon?
(1) Coconut shell activated carbon
The raw material of coconut shell activated carbon is coconut shell which also belongs to nut shell. It mainly imports from Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and Philippines. Its production process includes Screening, refining treatment after steam carbonization, Impurity removal, activation screening. Coconut shell activated carbon has the characteristics of high mechanical strength, developed pore structure, large specific surface area, fast adsorption speed, high adsorption capacity, easy regeneration, and durability.
(2) Nutshell activated carbon
Nutshell activated carbon is made from recycled peach core shells, peach shells, almond shells, etc., which being processed after carbonization, activation, and refinement. It has the characteristics of large specific surface area, high strength, uniform particle size, developed pore structure, and strong adsorption performance. And it can effectively absorb pollution residues and other organic pollution in the water and the recovery of organic solvents. Nutshell activated carbon is generally used in pharmaceutical, petrochemical, sugar, beverage, and alcohol purification industries. Nutshell activated carbon is also widely used in the deep purification of drinking water, industrial water and wastewater, and the purification of industrial water.
Although the two types of activated carbon are widely used, they have different iodine values. The adsorption iodine value of coconut shell activated carbon can generally reach more than 1000, and the strength is about 98. Nutshell activated carbon is not as high as coconut shell activated carbon. Generally, the iodine value can reach 800 or more, and the strength is about 95. The main characteristics of coconut shell activated carbon are light hand feeling and low density. It will obviously feel much lighter than other activated carbon when placed in the hand. With the same quality of activated carbon, coconut shell activated carbon is generally larger than other activated carbons. Coconut shell activated carbon has high hardness and high mechanical strength, which is 2-3 times that of other activated carbons.
